Why should I hire you rather than doing it myself?

While it may seem attractive to save some money by ordering the materials from an online do-it-yourself source, the reality is that the risks, costs, and the time it takes to do so can quickly outweigh the savings. We are professionals and this is our business. We design, manufacture, and install custom space solutions every day, and we know what to look for to make sure our solutions function and fit appropriately. Our custom manufacturing capability allows us to create solutions that simply aren’t possible with do-it-yourself kits, and we can propose solutions to your space needs that aren’t available anywhere else. The hassles of do-it-yourself options typically outweigh the benefits: bringing the product home or unloading it from a freight truck and carrying it into the space; if one measurement is wrong or one piece is cut incorrectly, it can potentially throw off the whole project; if one piece is missing, you’ll have to wait for another. Our skilled designers and experienced craftsmen are trained to design around obstructions, ceiling heights, and angled walls, to make the best use of your space based on your needs.

What materials do you use?

We use only the best products in the industry. All of our solutions are manufactured from industrial grade 3/4” melamine, making our products some of the strongest and most durable on the market. Other companies may only use 5/8” (20% thinner), or commercial grade (15% less dense). Our glues and assembly products are designed specifically for our applications and our hardware and accessory suppliers are some of the best known in the industry.

Can I install my own closets?

Due to the custom nature of our product we do not offer a self-installation option.

Can you work with any budget?

Yes. There are many decisions that affect the cost of a solution and we’re typically able to make recommendations that will help you fit the solution within your budget. Our designers help clients through the selection process to identify solutions that meet their needs and stay within their budgets.

How long does the process take?

Some solutions can be completed as quickly as 5 business days from consultation to installation. Typically though, most solutions take about 10 to 15 business days to complete with the most complex or custom solutions taking 15 to 45 business days.

Do you offer wire closet systems?

While many of our solutions include wire accessories, we do not currently offer complete wire solutions. We do replace wire systems from many of the areas we work in so we typically have used wire shelving products for sale at discounted prices. We do not offer installation of wire shelving products.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards. We also accept personal and business checks as well as cash. The deposit and final payments may be paid with different methods.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Yes. We are licensed with the State of Washington under contractor license number SMARTCL918O3. We never use sub-contractors.

Do you have a showroom?

We are in the process of building a small showroom at our current location. It will be open to customers in 2012.

Will you remove my old fixtures?

We offer an additional service to remove your existing fixtures. Let us know if you’d like this option during your complimentary consultation so that your designer can provide you with a quote. Otherwise, the old closet fixtures will need to be removed and any prep work completed prior to the date of installation.

How do your prices compare to your competitors?

We work directly with our suppliers to secure the best pricing available. We are a locally owned and operated company with very low overhead, no franchise fees or royalties, and no national advertising budget to help finance. We are confident that you will find our prices consistently lower than our major competitors. If for some reason you receive a better price, give us the opportunity to review the design and quote with you so that we can point out differences in space usage and materials. We will gladly provide a quote for the same design, materials, and services (including warranty).

Is your work guaranteed?

Absolutely! Smart Closets’ solutions are made of the highest quality materials and our suppliers stand behind their quality. We offer a lifetime guarantee covering defects in materials and workmanship for all of our solutions for as long as you live in your home. Any damaged or defective part will be repaired or replaced without charge. Your satisfaction is guaranteed!

Can a custom storage solution add value to my home?

Yes! According to the National Association of Home Builders, inadequate storage space is the top complaint of new homeowners. Many Realtors have expressed to us that adequate and well-designed storage/closet space can be the “make-or-break” decision factor for many homebuyers. Custom storage solutions sell homes more quickly. We can design a solution that will offer you maximum return on your home improvement investment.

Do I need a custom storage solution?

Everyone can benefit from more organization. A well-designed custom storage solution will help you make better use of your available space and time, two very important things! Our systems are designed for maximum flexibility, and will meet your needs well into the future.

How flexible are your solutions if my needs change?

Our solutions are designed so that you can easily move components and shelves as your needs change. We typically offer more shelves than you may need so that you can store them in case you find the need for them sometime later.
