Our client came to us with a space in their garage that they wanted to turn into a mud area and small tool storage and work area. After our consultation with the client and an inventory of the items they wanted to store in the space, we designed a solution that fit their needs.
The first section of the solution was a large storage area for shoes, coats, and other miscellaneous items. The unit includes 72 shoe cubbies that are divided horizontally with 1/4″ melamine (every third vertical is 3/4″ melamine for support). The shelves are each 3/4″ melamine that was notched to accommodate the 1/4″ dividers. While the system could have been designed entirely with 3/4″ melamine for additional flexibility (each column of shelves would have then been adjustable), the client preferred the “cubby” look that was achieved. The right two columns of the unit are completely adjustable to fit the client’s changing needs. Four 26″ deep full-extension drawers were added at the base of the unit for additional storage and a slate gray Wilsonart laminate counter top ties it into the workbench and provides a place to sit while the client’s family removes their shoes.
The second section of the solution was designed to fit under some duct work and included a slate gray Wilsonart laminate counter top for work tasks, two 77″ tall by 24″ deep closets with adjustable shelves, four 24″ full-extension drawers, and a 24″ deep enclosed storage area with adjustable shelves under the work area. The work area also includes a wall of Omni Track organization track along with components for storing various tools and accessories. The Omni Track organization track is a durable aluminum alloy material with an anodized finish that looks great in any area and holds up to the most demanding storage needs.
Both sections were designed in Silver Frost melamine with red melamine drawer fronts to add an extra design touch. They were finished with silver frost baseboard and nickel pulls. As you can see, the client was already using the solution before we were done installing it!
